Mimosa pudica, also known as the sensitive plant, is a fascinating species known for its rapid plant movement. Upon touch, its leaves fold inward defensively, a behavior called thigmonasty. This response is driven by changes in turgor pressure within specialized cells. Native to South and Central America, Mimosa pudica belongs to the pea family (Fabaceae) and produces small, pink, puff-like flowers.
