This fourth issue in the Le Bussole series (Nov. 1992), curated by Leonardo Di Mauro, presents the facsimile of the 1566 Lafréry–Dupérac map of Naples, one of the earliest printed views of the city. Comprising a fold-out reproduction of the original two-sheet engraving and a companion booklet with detailed enlargements and critical commentary, it highlights Naples’ Renaissance urban form, extending from Ponte della Maddalena to Capodimonte. The map is treated not just as a cartographic artifact but as a cultural lens on 16th-century spatial structure, morphology, and identity, aligning with the series’ goal to offer visual tools for understanding the city.
