IL PANORAMA DI HEILMANN DE RONDCHATEL | N° 3 1992 | LE BUSSOLE

This third installment of the Le Bussole – Tools for Understanding the City series (Nov. 1992) features the full reproduction of the 1841 panoramic drawing of Naples by Georg Friedrich Heilmann de Rondchatel, a Swiss military officer in service of the Bourbon army. Curated by Maria Perone, the publication presents a fold-out facsimile (3.45 meters long) of the panorama from Castel Sant’Elmo, enriched with 12 enlarged sections and a bilingual Italian–English commentary by Giuseppe Zampino. The work offers a detailed visual and analytical perspective of Naples' urban and architectural form in the 19th century and reflects the broader aims of the series to make cartographic and visual tools accessible for cultural literacy.
