I Nibelunghi is the Italian version of Das Nibelungenlied, the great medieval German epic, translated and edited by Laura Mancinelli. The poem, composed in Middle High German ca. 1200, is structured in 39 cantos (or “avventure”) and narrates a sweeping saga of heroism, love, betrayal, and vengeance.
