Plant Description
The Citrus reticulata subsp. tachibana, commonly known as the Tachibana Orange, is a rare, wild mandarin subspecies native to Japan and surrounding regions. This small, slow-growing citrus tree produces compact, dark green foliage and highly fragrant white flowers. The fruits are small, round, and bright orange, with a thin peel and a tart, slightly bitter flavor. Unlike cultivated mandarins, the Tachibana orange is valued more for its historical and botanical significance rather than commercial fruit production. It is highly resistant to cold and pests, making it an interesting choice for collectors and citrus enthusiasts.
